Tuatara

Endemic to New Zealand, tuatara are the last living representatives of a reptile lineage separate from lizards. Their unusual jaws have one lower row of teeth that fits between two upper rows, helping shear food. Another remarkable feature is hidden in the nest: incubation temperature influences the sex of the young, with warmer conditions producing more males.

Olive and ochre colour follows the tuatara’s textured skin, spiny crest and long, curving tail. Fine scales bring the reptile into close focus, while bold ink gives movement to its outline. The pale space around the body keeps its ancient-looking form clear and contemporary.

Printed on 230gsm smooth matte archival-quality paper, with a smooth, non-glossy finish.

Pigment-based, UV-stable archival inks reproduce the colours and fine details of the original digital artwork. Each giclée print is produced in New Zealand.
