Maki | Orca

Orca, also called killer whales, are the largest members of the dolphin family and travel throughout New Zealand’s coastal waters. Some hunt rays inside shallow bays and harbours, searching along the bottom and herding prey towards the shallows. This locally distinctive feeding behaviour helps explain why such large ocean predators can appear surprisingly close to the shoreline.

Two orca curve through turquoise washes and sweeping black ink, their overlapping forms giving the composition its momentum. Bright white patches break up the darker bodies, making each animal distinct within the pair. The generous pale background lets the movement feel open rather than confined.

Printed on 230gsm smooth matte archival-quality paper, with a smooth, non-glossy finish.

Pigment-based, UV-stable archival inks reproduce the colours and fine details of the original digital artwork. Each giclée print is produced in New Zealand.
