Tuatara

Standing alert against a clean white backdrop, Tuatara is a native wildlife greeting card from Hiriwā Digital Art’s Inked collection. Earthy shades of olive, ochre and brown bring out the tuatara’s textured skin, powerful limbs and distinctive spiny crest, while its long tail curves through the composition below. Expressive black brush marks and scattered ink splashes surround the figure, giving this ancient New Zealand reptile a bold, contemporary treatment.

Found only in Aotearoa New Zealand, tuatara are the last surviving members of an ancient order of reptiles that flourished during the age of the dinosaurs. They are remarkably long-lived and slow-growing, with some individuals reaching around 100 years of age, and are unusual among reptiles for remaining active at relatively cool temperatures.

These greeting cards are fine art prints in card form, using the same 230gsm smooth matte archival-quality paper as Hiriwā’s larger prints.

Pigment-based, UV-stable archival inks reproduce the original digital artwork with fine detail and a non-glossy finish. Proudly New Zealand Made™.
