Honu Kākāriki | Green Turtle

The green turtle is a marine reptile found in New Zealand waters, where juveniles and subadults can spend extended periods in northern coastal habitats. Its name refers to greenish fatty tissue rather than its shell, with the largely plant-based adult diet thought to contribute to the colour. These northern residents belong to populations whose nesting beaches lie in warmer seas.

Olive, gold and teal trace the turtle’s patterned shell and broad flippers. Loose ink splashes suggest water moving around its steady forward glide, while carefully defined scales reward a closer look. The composition pairs the turtle’s substantial shell with the unhurried sweep of its limbs.

Printed on 230gsm smooth matte archival-quality paper, with a smooth, non-glossy finish.
