Standing together against a clean white backdrop, Pūtangitangi | Paradise Duck is a native bird art print from Hiriwā Digital Art’s Inked collection. The pair are rendered in rich chestnut, black and white, with their contrasting head colouring creating a striking focal point within the composition. Loose black washes, expressive brushwork and scattered ink splashes ground the birds beneath their feet, giving the artwork its bold contemporary character.
Also known as the paradise shelduck, pūtangitangi are endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand and are the country’s only native shelduck. The sexes are unusually easy to distinguish: females have a striking white head and chestnut body, while males have a dark head and darker body. Pairs form strong bonds, generally remaining together for life and returning to the same nesting territory year after year.
Designed and printed in Aotearoa New Zealand, Pūtangitangi | Paradise Duck is available as a physical fine art print in sizes A4, A3, A2, A1 and A0.
