Perched against a clean white backdrop, Tūī is a native bird art print from Hiriwā Digital Art’s Inked collection. Rich teal, blue, green and bronze tones bring out the tūī’s iridescent plumage, while its distinctive white throat tufts stand in sharp contrast against the darker feathers. A bare branch rendered in expressive black brushwork, surrounded by scattered ink splashes, gives the composition its bold, contemporary character.
Endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand, tūī belong to the honeyeater family and feed heavily on nectar from native flowers. They are also remarkable vocalists, producing an extraordinary range of calls and even mimicking other sounds, from the calls of other birds to human-made noises.
Designed and printed in Aotearoa New Zealand, Tūī is available as a physical fine art print in sizes A4, A3, A2, A1 and A0.
