Perched against a clean white backdrop, Kākāpō is a native bird art print from Hiriwā Digital Art’s Inked collection. Layers of moss green, olive and earthy brown bring out the bird’s richly patterned plumage, while its rounded face, bright eye and pale hooked beak create a distinctive focal point. A rugged branch rendered in loose black brushwork, surrounded by scattered ink splashes, gives the composition its bold contemporary character.
Endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand, kākāpō are among the world’s rarest birds and are classified as Threatened – Nationally Critical. Once widespread across the country, they came perilously close to extinction and today survive only through intensive conservation, living on protected predator-free islands and within a fenced mainland sanctuary. There are currently just 325 kākāpō, making every surviving bird part of an extraordinary recovery story. They are also nocturnal and flightless, and the world’s only lek-breeding parrot.
Designed and printed in Aotearoa New Zealand, Kākāpō is available as a physical fine art print in sizes A4, A3, A2, A1 and A0. Each print is produced using pigment-based, UV-stable archival inks on 230gsm smooth matte archival-quality paper. Every print sold also funds the planting of at least one native tree in Aotearoa.
