Perched against a clean white backdrop, Kākā is a native bird art print from Hiriwā Digital Art’s Inked collection. Rich russet, olive, cream and earthy green tones bring out the layered plumage, while the bird’s pale crown, bright eye and strongly curved beak create a distinctive focal point. A rugged branch rendered in expressive black brushwork, surrounded by loose colour and scattered ink splashes, gives this native New Zealand parrot a bold contemporary presence.
Endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand, kākā are large forest parrots related to both the kea and kākāpō. Highly mobile and social, they are often heard before they are seen, gathering in lively groups in the early morning and evening. Their noisy, energetic behaviour and raucous voices contributed to their reputation as the chatterers of New Zealand’s forests.
Designed and printed in Aotearoa New Zealand, Kākā is available as a physical fine art print in sizes A4, A3, A2, A1 and A0. Each print is produced using pigment-based, UV-stable archival inks on 230gsm smooth matte archival-quality paper. Every print sold also funds the planting of at least one native tree in Aotearoa.
