Perched against a clean white backdrop, Kererū is a native bird art print from Hiriwā Digital Art’s Inked collection. Iridescent shades of green, bronze and purple shimmer across the head, neck and wings, contrasting sharply with the bird’s bright white breast and vivid red bill and feet. A twisting branch rendered in bold black brushwork, surrounded by loose washes and scattered ink splashes, gives the composition its expressive contemporary character.
Endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand, kererū are large native pigeons and play an especially important role in forest regeneration. Their size allows them to swallow large fruits such as karaka, miro, tawa and taraire whole, carrying and dispersing the seeds through the forest. Their powerful wingbeats also make a distinctive sound as they fly overhead.
Designed and printed in Aotearoa New Zealand, Kererū is available as a physical fine art print in sizes A4, A3, A2, A1 and A0. Each print is produced using pigment-based, UV-stable archival inks on 230gsm smooth matte archival-quality paper. Every print sold also funds the planting of at least one native tree in Aotearoa.
