Ruru | Morepork

Ruru, the morepork, is a small native owl whose familiar two-note call carries through New Zealand forests after dark. Its repertoire also includes a rising ‘quee’ that is often mistaken for a kiwi call. Two ruru calling back and forth may sound like a duet, yet they are usually rival males challenging one another over territory.

Golden eyes stand out from mottled brown and cream feathers, giving the ruru a direct, watchful presence. The bare branch and dark splashes leave space around the body, while fine markings gather around the face. Warm earth tones soften the intensity of the gaze.

Printed on 230gsm smooth matte archival-quality paper, with a smooth, non-glossy finish.

Pigment-based, UV-stable archival inks reproduce the colours and fine details of the original digital artwork. Each giclée print is produced in New Zealand.
