About the Artwork
Windblown sand often travels in short hops called saltation rather than remaining suspended high in the air. As each grain lands, it can knock other grains into motion or push them along the surface. Much finer dust can stay airborne longer, so a sand-moving wind can create both low rippling movement and a more distant haze.
Warm sand stretches beneath the dark edge of an approaching storm. Low, sweeping shapes keep the ground open while the weight of cloud builds above it. The contrast between amber tones and blue-grey shadow gives the scene a sense of weather moving into exposed country.
Canvas & Construction
Printed in New Zealand on 360gsm premium natural white matte cotton canvas. The canvas is acid-free and OBA-free, with a neutral-pH coating designed for water-based inks.
The canvas is stretched over kiln-dried New Zealand pine stretcher bars, giving the artwork depth and a finished shape for your wall.
Size & Edge Finishes
Available in A4 (21 × 29.7cm), A3 (29.7 × 42cm), A2 (42 × 59.4cm), A1 (59.4 × 84.1cm) and A0 (84.1 × 118.8cm). The artwork’s orientation determines which side is the width.
- Mirror Edge: the edge of the image is reflected around the sides.
- Black: the sides are finished in black.
- None (Blank): the sides are left blank.
Your edge choice changes the sides of the canvas, allowing you to choose the finish that suits your space.
Caring for Your Canvas
Display indoors, away from direct sunlight, damp areas and sources of heat. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid water, cleaning sprays or pressure on the printed surface.
Lift by the stretcher frame, taking care not to press or stretch the canvas.
Planting Native Trees
Every canvas print funds a native tree through Trees That Count. Your planting-region selection is a preference; the final location depends on where support is needed.
Hiriwā also makes monthly contributions to Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, supporting native forest and wildlife conservation.
