Coastal Sunset

Sunset colour depends on the long route sunlight takes through the atmosphere when the sun is low. Air scatters shorter blue wavelengths more strongly, leaving more red and orange light along the direct path. Clouds can catch that warm light even when the ground below is already in shadow, creating bright layers above a darkening coast.

Gold spreads across wet sand beneath a wide, cloud-filled sky, recalling Te Henga/Bethells Beach on Auckland’s west coast. Dark headlands frame the glowing horizon, giving the warm light a stronger sense of distance. Reflections pull the eye towards the sea, holding the brief moment when the shoreline seems brighter than the land around it.

Printed in New Zealand on 360gsm premium natural white matte cotton canvas. The canvas is acid-free and OBA-free, with a neutral-pH coating designed for water-based inks.

The canvas is stretched over kiln-dried New Zealand pine stretcher bars, giving the artwork depth and a finished shape for your wall.

Available in A4 (21 × 29.7cm), A3 (29.7 × 42cm), A2 (42 × 59.4cm), A1 (59.4 × 84.1cm) and A0 (84.1 × 118.8cm). The artwork’s orientation determines which side is the width.

• Mirror Edge: the edge of the image is reflected around the sides.
• Black: the sides are finished in black.
• None (Blank): the sides are left blank.

Your edge choice changes the sides of the canvas, allowing you to choose the finish that suits your space.

Display indoors, away from direct sunlight, damp areas and sources of heat. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid water, cleaning sprays or pressure on the printed surface.

Lift by the stretcher frame, taking care not to press or stretch the canvas.

Every canvas print funds a native tree through Trees That Count. Your planting-region selection is a preference; the final location depends on where support is needed.

Hiriwā also makes monthly contributions to Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, supporting native forest and wildlife conservation.
