Sanctuary of Ferns

A fern frond repeats a branching pattern at several scales: smaller leaflets echo the outline of the larger frond, creating the intricate rhythm visible in a close view. Many ferns spread these finely divided surfaces beneath the forest canopy, catching the light that reaches the undergrowth. Seen against deeper foliage, the pattern reveals how much structure can exist within a small patch of green.

A single frond fills the view with repeating leaflets and finely divided edges. Light picks out its structure against a quieter green background, making the pattern feel both intricate and orderly. The close framing offers a small, detailed encounter with the forest rather than a broad woodland view.

Printed in New Zealand on 360gsm premium natural white matte cotton canvas. The canvas is acid-free and OBA-free, with a neutral-pH coating designed for water-based inks.

The canvas is stretched over kiln-dried New Zealand pine stretcher bars, giving the artwork depth and a finished shape for your wall.

Available in A4 (21 × 29.7cm), A3 (29.7 × 42cm), A2 (42 × 59.4cm), A1 (59.4 × 84.1cm) and A0 (84.1 × 118.8cm). The artwork’s orientation determines which side is the width.

• Mirror Edge: the edge of the image is reflected around the sides.
• Black: the sides are finished in black.
• None (Blank): the sides are left blank.

Your edge choice changes the sides of the canvas, allowing you to choose the finish that suits your space.

Display indoors, away from direct sunlight, damp areas and sources of heat. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid water, cleaning sprays or pressure on the printed surface.

Lift by the stretcher frame, taking care not to press or stretch the canvas.

Every canvas print funds a native tree through Trees That Count. Your planting-region selection is a preference; the final location depends on where support is needed.

Hiriwā also makes monthly contributions to Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, supporting native forest and wildlife conservation.
