Kākā

Perched against a clean white backdrop, Kākā is a native bird greeting card from Hiriwā Digital Art’s Inked collection. Rich russet, olive, cream and earthy green tones bring out the layered plumage, while the bird’s pale crown, bright eye and strongly curved beak create a distinctive focal point. A rugged branch rendered in expressive black brushwork, surrounded by loose colour and scattered ink splashes, gives this native New Zealand parrot a bold contemporary presence.

Endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand, kākā are large forest parrots related to both the kea and kākāpō. Highly mobile and social, they are often heard before they are seen, gathering in lively groups in the early morning and evening. Their noisy, energetic behaviour and raucous voices contributed to their reputation as the chatterers of New Zealand’s forests.

These greeting cards are fine art prints in card form, using the same 230gsm smooth matte archival-quality paper as Hiriwā’s larger prints.

Pigment-based, UV-stable archival inks reproduce the original digital artwork with fine detail and a non-glossy finish. Proudly New Zealand Made™.
