Pī Mīere | Honey Bee

Pī mīere, the honey bee, is an introduced social insect valued in New Zealand for honey production and crop pollination. A worker can share a food discovery through a waggle dance inside the hive. The angle gives a direction relative to the sun, while the duration conveys distance, providing nestmates with information about a place they have not yet visited.

Fine wing veins, a striped body and small changes in surface texture become the focus of this Black & White study. The restrained palette encourages a close look at an insect often noticed only in passing. Light and dark define its compact form without the distraction of a busy garden setting.

Printed on 230gsm smooth matte archival-quality paper, with a smooth, non-glossy finish.

Pigment-based, UV-stable archival inks reproduce the colours and fine details of the original digital artwork. Each giclée print is produced in New Zealand.
