The coral tree (erythrina × sykesii) is easily recognised in winter when the ends of bare branches are covered with clusters of bright scarlet pea-shaped flowers. This species is sterile and does not produce viable seed, propagating instead via stem segments. Logs, branches, and even twigs will grow into new plants.
